Quince Japanese Flowering Quince
The Japanese Flowering Quince, Chaenomeles japonica, is a small, deciduous shrub with widespreading, dense branches. This shrub has medium summer texture, and then coarse winter texture. In early spring it displays bright orange-red flowers. Japanese Flowering Quince is an adaptable, easy to grow shrub that is tolerant of dry soils. It prefers full sun, which is needed for best ornamental display, although it is tolerant of partial shade. Use for shrub borders, hedges, or mass plantings. Occasional renewal pruning in spring, after flowering, will improve the bloom for the following year.
