Looks great in a large container planting since it is a vertical grower with narrow, soft round stems and flowers in early summer. When used either in the back or middle of a container, it adds height and drama to the arrangement. Juncus 'Quartz Creek' is a warm-season grass. Warm-season grasses won't start growing until mid to late spring or even early summer. Their major growth and flowering happens when the weather is hot. They will usually turn shades of brown for the winter. Easily grown in moist to wet soils, including standing water to 4 deep, in full sun locations. Tolerates light shade, but best in full sun. Notwithstanding its preference for moist soils, soft rush will perform surprisingly well in average garden soils as long as they receive even moisture.

Grass - Red Riding Hood
Grass Red Riding Hood
The Grass Red Riding Hood, Pennisetum setaceum 'Red Riding Hood', is perfect for containers and smaller borders. 'Red Riding Hood' has rich burgundy leaves, stems and flowers which blooms in late summer. Upright and arching, Red Riding Hood is a dwarf form of 'Rubrum'. This rich burgundy-colored fountain grass adds height without outgrowing its welcome. Wonderful for smaller borders. Pest and disease-free. Pennisetum Red Riding Hood is only an annual in northern climates. It makes a great specimen plant and can be used as a center piece in a container. It is a purple-pigmented ornamental grass when grown in high-light environments. In low-light environments, foliage appears light purple or green, and as a result, aesthetic appeal is reduced.. This plant can be a perennial in zones 9-11. In zones 3-8 it is an annual only.

Grass - Super Stripe Maiden
Grass Super Stripe Maiden
Super Stripe Maiden Grass, Miscanthus sinensis 'Super Stripe' PPAF, is a new selection of Miscanthus sinensis that boasts more stripes than Miscanthus 'Strictus or 'Zebrinus'. The name says it all! 'Super Stripe' outranks all other "banded" miscanthus varieties, with more horizontal gold bands, full erect form and brilliant garden presence. In addition to the superior gold banding in the leaves, Miscanthus 'Super Stripe' is earlier flowering and more sturdy than its counterparts. Plant as a striking specimen plant at the back of a border or in the middle of an island bed. Also great as a large container plant! Tawny flowers soar on sturdy stems in September and October. Miscanthus is unrivalled in the diversity and beauty of its flowers, foliage, autumn colors and winter presence. It is extraordinarily adaptable to many conditions and purposes in the garden. Use it alone as a specimen, for massing or screening, in large containers, or at the pond's edge. Miscanthus is easy to grow and is a good choice for beginners. Grows best in moderately moist, well-drained soil. Cut back in fall, or leave standing for winter interest and movement. Divide in fall as needed to control slow spreading clumps.

Green Dragon - Dragon Tails
Green Dragon Dragon Tails
Green Dragon Dragon Tails, Pinellia 'Dragon Tails', has fabulous gold splashed foliage and gives rise to fragrant 'jack-in-the-pulpit' type flowers mid summer until fall. Some leaves will be all yellow, some half and half, some streaky yellow and some all green. The unstable variegation pattern is what makes this a truly fascinating plant. Pinellia tripartita 'Dragon Tails' has "flowers" that look very similar to some of the Asian 'jack in the pulpits'. The exotic foliage looks great in a container or as a specimen in a woodland garden. Prefers humus-rich, moist woodland well drained soil. Potting up or moving these new little cuties is easy, and they fill odd shady spots in the garden with plants that are modest in size and bloom for a very long time in late spring to early summer.
