Like most herbs, six hours of sun is preferable to fully develop those mouth watering flavors. In hot summer areas, afternoon shade can cut down on watering and stress to the plant. And mulching is always a good practice to improve the soil and help keep root zone temperatures moderate.Greek Oregano has a strong flavor but it doesn't hold up well to prolonged cooking, especially when used fresh. Harvest fresh leaves right before you are going to use them. Pick several kinds of cooking herbs and make a culinary bouquet. Greek Oregano chopped and mixed with garlic, salt, and olive oil makes a great marinade for pork, beef, or roasted potatoes. Add a little Rosemary to the marinade and use it on poultry. Greek Oregano can be used fresh or dried.

Daisy - Yellow Symphony
Osteospermum Yellow Symphony

The Daisy Yellow Symphony, 'Osteospermum Yellow Symphony, is popular in the nursery trade. Numerous hybrids and cultivars have been grown with a wide range of tropical colors. Plants prefer a warm and sunny position and rich soil, although they tolerate poor soil, salt or drought well. Modern cultivars flower continuously when watered and fertilized well, and dead-heading is not necessary, because they do not set seed easily. If planted in a container, soil should be prevented from drying out completely. If they do, the plants will go into "sleep mode" and survive the period of drought, but they will abort their flower buds and not easily come back into flower. Moreover, roots are relatively susceptible to rotting if watered too profusely after the dry period.

The large deep golden yellow daisies appear in mid-summer and are invaluable for brightening the summer garden. A rugged and exceedingly cold hardy plant, ‘Tuscan Sun’ is easily grown in average compost enriched garden soils and is an excellent companion for other native prairie plants. It can be planted in average, well-drained soil, but do not allow it to dry out. A wonderful addition to island beds or in the back or borders or as cut flowers. Also resistant to powdery mildew.
