Onions - Long Day - First Edition F-1
F-1 Long Day Onion

Long Day First Edition F-1 Onions produce extremely uniform bulbs for long storage; vigorous variety. The tough-skinned, brown, globe-shaped bulbs are quite firm with creamy-yellow flesh. One of our longest-keeping varieties, it has a rich, pungent flavor, and is especially good for cooking and baking. Onions are stimulated to bulb up under the lengthening days of spring into summer. Generally, day lengths of 12–16 hours induce bulbing. Onions are easy to grow, have a fairly short growing period, and importantly, they take up little space. With just one square foot of garden space, you can grow an onion or two. If you don't have a vegetable garden, plant a few in the a planting pot or box.

Fennel - Bronze-Smokey
Foeniculum vulgare

The Fennel Bronze, 'Foeniculum vulgare', has stunningly beautiful, purple feathery plumes that provide a lacy contrast in the vegetable or flower garden. The Bronze Fennel is an absolutely dazzling, hard to find Fennel, that is used primarily for ornamental value and has tasty foliage and seeds. The tall feathery, smoky purple foliage provides a beautiful accent with pink and white roses or any other contrasting flower color. The Bronze Fennel attracts butterflies. The swallowtail butterfly lays eggs on fennel.The seed produced by the Bronze Fennell is used for flavoring cookies, breads, and cakes. Fresh leaves can be sprinkled on salads or used in salad dressings. Plant in the spring 2 weeks before the last average frost date. Fennel does best in well drained, sandy soils with lots of organic matter. They need to be kept moist.

Fennel - Florence-Finocchio
Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum

The Fennel Florence Finocchio, 'Foenicucum vulgare var. azoricum', is grown as a vegetable for the succulent, sweet, licorice-flavored bulbs or as a herb for the delicately flavored feathery foliage. If you have never had fennel bulb, you are missing a treat. It can be eaten raw or used very effectively in soups, deep fried, in pasta or sauteed. Seed produced by the Florence Fennel is also used in flavoring. The delicate foliage can be used as a flavoring herb.Bulb production in hot summer climates requires a planting time in mid summer for fall harvest. In cool climates, plant in the spring after the last average frost date. Fennel does best in well drained, sandy soils with lots of organic matter. They need to be kept moist.

Corn - White Corn - Frosty F-1 SE
Frosty F-1 SE White Corn

The Frosty F-1 SE is a sugar enhanced white corn with an attractive single stalked plant. Frosty produces uniform, easily harvested 8 inch cylindrical ears with 16 rows; succulent white kernels filled to the tip. Frosty sweet corn is excellent for the home vegetable garden, roadside stand and fresh market. Frosty is a favorite in areas where white corns are grown. With a sweet flavor, this corn keeps well. It tolerates Stewarts wilt and Northern Corn leaf blight. Corn needs a consistent source of water and requires rich soil. Plant corn seeds in a sunny location after the last frost. Sow seeds in at least 4 side by side rows to insure good pollination. Weed early and keep the weeds cut back. Remember that corn has shallow roots, and a vigorous attack on the weeds may destroy the crop.
