Blueberry Duke, Vaccinium 'Duke', is very firm and retains its fresh quality longer than most other varieties. 'Duke' blooms late but ripens early protecting blossoms from late frosts. Heavy, consistent producer. Upright growth but branches will droop to the ground when laden with fruit. Yellow-orange foliage in the fall. Medium to large light blue berries. 'Duke' is know for its mildly tart flavor. Blueberries are extremely nutritious and have a high vitamin content. Blueberries are considered a beautiful, productive hedge with spring flowering on dark green foliage, delicious fruit in summer and fiery red foliage for autumn color. The plants are resistant to stem blight disease. Fruit size is consistently medium to mostly large and very attractive. The fruit is great eaten fresh with fine flavor, firmness and appearance. It also exhibits a long shelf life for storage.
