Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa Plum

The Santa Rosa Plum tree produces plums that have a delicious flavor. The fruit is large, attractive, dark reddish purple color with red flesh. The fruit is firm and of good quality. One of the most frequently planted Japanese plums. It is a self pollinating tree and thus can be planted in locations where pollination is not needed. Fruit buds are susceptible to winter injury in northern climates. It is excellent to use for home drying along with its fresh taste when ripe.

Shinko Pear

Juicy, sweet, flavorful, refreshing, crisp like an apple. The Shinko pear is an Asian Pear and is often called an apple because of its crispness and round shape.The Shinko Pear has flesh that is yellowish white with a good juicy, sweet flavor. It is late ripening and of excellent quality. It ripens in mid-August to September in Central California. It has golden brown russeted skin and requires 450 hours of chilling. Shinko is the most fire blight resistant of the Asian pears. It is pollinated by Hosui, Chojuro, Kikusui, Bartlett.

Shinseiki Pear

Juicy, sweet, refreshing, crisp like an apple. Shinseiki Pear is an easy-to-grow Asian Pear. It keeps well and has a bright yellow skin. The tree is vigorous, cold hardy, drought resistant, heat tolerant, and is heavy bearing by the second year.The Shinseiki Pear ripens in late July to early August. It is self-fruitful and needs 350-450 hours of chilling.

Sonata
Sonata Apple

The Sonata apple has a taste that is similar to a Golden. It is a medium sized apple with excellent flavor. It is a very attractive apple, with a bright, pinkish red blush over a yellow background. With a firm and finely grained, creamy colored flesh, it is cold hardy and highly precocious and productive. The Sonata keeps well in storage, retaining its flavor essences better than Gala. We highly recommend Sonata for hobbyists and home gardeners as this is truly a gourmet apple. Sonata apple trees have low to medium vigor. Matures similar to Golden Delicious. Primary assets are the combined excellent cosmetics with a pleasant exciting flavor.

Spartan Apple
Spartan Apple

Highly aromatic, crisp, juicy, fine flavored, and early maturing. Spartan Apple is a McIntosh-type dessert apple, but firmer. It also is a better keeper and tends to ship better. The apple has pure white flesh and is medium sized with beautiful dark red skin. It does harvest early like the Red Delicious. It keeps several months and has a lesser tendency to premature drop like the McIntosh. The estimated chilling time is 800-1000 hours. It is resistant to scab, mildew and fireblight. Spartan is a heavy bearing tree, winter hardy and precocious. It is self-fruitful, but a larger crop is produced if cross-pollinated by Lodi, Wealthy, or Liberty.

Firm, crisp, fine grained, with a rich, aromatic, renowned flavor. The Spitzenburg Apple was one of the favorites of Thomas Jefferson. It is thought of as a dessert apple for connoisseurs. Its size is medium to large, with round-conical, orangish fruit with tough skin. The flesh is tinged yellow, firm, aromatic, and complex in flavor; a perfect balance between sharp and sweet.Spitzenburg ripens in October and hangs on until November. This apple improves with storage and is best at Christmas time. The tree has a slender growth habit with long willowy limbs. A pollinator is required by mid-season blooming apples and it is hardy in Zones 4-8. Uses: as fresh eating or as a dessert, cooking and baking.

Pluot - Splash, Prunus pluot 'Splash', is a complex hybrid of 70 percent plum, 30 percent apricot. Smooth-skinned like a plum, the Pluot® is sturdy and durable with luscious flavor. It has the chin-dripping juiciness of a fully ripe plum without the notoriously tough skin and tart center typical of the parent plum. It can be eaten fresh, dried, or in desserts. Splash Pluot is yellow, turning to orange/red at maturity with yellow flesh. The Stanley Prune has large, sweet, juicy flesh. The dark blue skin enfolds delicious, greenish-yellow meaty flesh. It is a freestone. The Stanley Prune is late blooming, extremely cold hardy and reliable. Harvest is late summer. It does not need a pollinator and is a heavy producer.

State Fair
State Fair Apple

The State Fair Apple, Malus 'State Fair', has a flavor that is sprightly tart and good for eating and baking. It has good texture that is semi-acid to sweet. State Fair is especially recommended for trial in regions where winter hardiness and a short growing season are limiting factors, so it is one of the better early apples for northern growers. This all purpose apple is one of the better early apples, but it has a short storage life. This medium size tree is a good producer, and its fruit ripens late September to early October. It is very cold hardy and needs a pollinator. Plant about a month after the first killing frost in the fall or about a month before the last killing frost in the spring. Select a planting site that has good air, drainage, full sunlight and deep, well drained soil.

Stella
Stella Cherry

The Stella cherry is self-fruitful - no pollenizer needed. It is a large, nearly black, richly flavored sweet cherry. Similar to its parent, Lambert. It is a great pollinator for the Bing cherry tree, except in mild winter climates. The flesh is almost black in color. It is an excellent cherry for fresh eating and is also resistant to cracking. Tree bears at a young age.

Summercrisp
Summercrisp Pear

The Summercrisp Pear, Pyrus 'Summercrisp', has been recognized for many years as the hardiest pear from the University of Minnesota, released in 1985. It is free of fireblight and an annual bearer. Summercrisp fruit is pyriform in shape, 2 1/2" to 3" in diameter and 2 1/2" to 3" long. It blooms early in May. The fruit should be harvested in mid-August when crisp and still green with a red blush. When harvested at this time, the fruit is sweet and crisp, and may be stored up to 2 months. Use either Parker or Patten as a pollinator. Plant about a month after the first killing frost in the fall or about a month before the last killing frost in the spring. Select a planting site that has good air, drainage, full sunlight and deep, well drained soil.

The Sunburst cherry is a cross between the Stella and the Van cherry. It is a large dark-skinned sweet cherry that is very similar to the Stella. It resists cracking and is ready for harvest in July about the same time as the Van cherry.The Sunburst cherry was introduced in 1983 from Summerland, British Columbia. It is a self-fruitful tree so it does not require a pollinizer. The cherry requires 800 chill hours.

Large, very firm, fine-flavored, with yellow freestone. The Suncrest Peach has a bright red skin over yellow. The red skin is about 80% red with the yellow background. The flesh is yellow and exceptionally firm with good texture and flavor. The tree is vigorous, self-fruitful, and a consistent producer. Its blossoms are frost hardy, and it has a hardiness record that was tested in Eastern sites.The Suncrest Peach is a good shipper that proves to be a good commercial market peach. It is ready to harvest at the end of July in central California and requires 700 hours of chilling. The Suncrest Peach originated in Fresno, California and was introduced in 1959.

With its brilliant red color over a yellow background, this nectarine is always a bright spot. This nectarine features a long storage life and large fruit. The tree is hardy and vigouous.

The Superior Plum tree is a Japanese variety selected for it's large size, vigor, and hardiness.The Superior is a good variety for cold regions. It will bear fruit early. The Superior fruit is fire red with yellow flesh, ripening the first days of August. It is a great pollinator for other Japanese plum varieties. Superior requires another Japanese plum for pollination. With this plum tree, you have a tree that bears earlier and heavier than most plum trees. The fruit ripens in August-September. A good plum tree for Zone 4.

Pomegranate - Sweet, Punica granatum 'Sweet', is a large pomegranate with light pink flesh. The fruit is sweet and juicy. The tree grows to 12 feet and has orange-red flowers in late spring, producing beautiful pink fruits in the fall. The Sweet pomegranate ripens early September. The pomegranate is a round shaped shrub or small tree and is self-fruitful, long-lived, and very productive. The rich, tart, unique flavor is fueling the high demand as a healthy ingredient to many of the new juice mixes found in stores. 'Sweet' pomegranates make smaller trees than other varieties, so this one does well in pots. Pomegranates should be placed in the sunniest, warmest part of the yard or orchard for the best fruit. It does best in well-drained ordinary soil, but also thrives on calcareous or acidic loam as well as rock strewn gravel.
