The Grass 'Perennial Quaking Grass', Briza media, is the most common perennial Quaking Grass.The flowers rise a foot or more above the slender foliage to quiver in the breeze. Outstanding all-purpose grass both as a specimen, massed in groups, in borders, or as a groundcover. Foliage turns from bright green to golden as it matures. The Quaking grasses are pest and disease free. It is a clumping deciduous grass with tall inflorescences with little bead-like seedheads from late spring into summer. Very hardy, tolerant of a range of soil conditions and pretty drought tolerant once established. and is not invasive.

Grass - Bronze Veil Tufted Hair, Deschampsia Bronzeschleier, is widely arching in form and is a prodigious bloomer. It produces silvery-green flower plumes ageing to bright bronze yellow on tall stems from June to July. 'Bronzeschleier' is a clump-forming evergreen grass with flower panicles that look like a bronze cloud shimmering in the slightest breeze. Being a high-impact plant, Deschampsia Bronzeschleier can be used as a specimen or in large drifts. It prefers full sun to light shade in moist fertile soil; tolerates hot, dry conditions with ample water.

Brunnera - Emerald Mist

Brunnera Emerald Mist, Brunnera 'Emerald Mist' PPAF, is an improved version of Brunnera 'Langtrees' with more pronounced silver spots that connect to form a silver collar around the perimeter of the leaf. The heart shaped leaves also have a light silver dusting over the entire leaf surface, which gives it a unique metallic look. The baby blue forget-me-not flowers accent the showy foliage in the spring. 'Emerald Mist' PPAF is an outstanding deer resistant perennial for the shade garden! Brunnera is a woodland plant that should be grown in full shade, but in the north, morning sun is tolerated, and in the south, dense shade is necessary. It will grow the fastest and strongest in rich soil that is consistently moist, and it does not need a lot of care once established. Cut back the old foliage in the spring rather than in the fall. It will become a sure garden pleaser!

Brunnera - King's Ransom

Dainty blue flowers float above the plant in the spring as the leaf margins lighten to a creamy white. 'King's Ransom' PPAF is jointly introduced by Terra Nova and Walters Gardens, Inc. Its size makes it the perfect choice for combination containers as well as for mass plantings. Brunnera - Jack Frost

The Brunnera Jack Frost, 'Brunnera macrophylla', has sky-blue flowers that contrast well with its frosty silver leaves. The foliage is known to resemble cracked porcelain. ‘Jack Frost’ has a plant height of 12-18” and a plant spread of 18”. It does require full shade in most areas. In the north, morning sun is tolerated and in the south, dense shade is necessary. ‘Jack Frost’ is a great perennial to brighten up shady areas and will look great with any shade plant on the market today. Brunnera - Mr. Morse

Brunnera Mr. Morse, Brunnera 'Mr. Morse' PPAF, is an elegant white flowering version of the popular Brunnera 'Jack Frost' PP#13,859. The exquisite foliage consists of dark green heart shaped leaves that are frosted with a silver overlay. Green veins of the leaves give a crackle like finish to the silvered foliage. 'Mr. Morse' PPAF offers seasons of interest with pearl white flowers in the spring and dazzling deer-resistant foliage that looks great right up to frost. Mr. Morse is considered to be one of the Top Ten Must-Have shade plants! Mr. Morse Brunnera is a good candidate for large containers as well as the border and bed. In woodland settings, a large planting is extraordinary! Give this plant plenty of moisture, and mulch it well to retain the moisture. Bugbane Black Negligee, Actaea simplex 'Black Negligee', is a dark and mysterious accent plant for your garden. This vigorous grower has lacy black foliage and striking black-purple stems. In late summer, 'Black Negligee' has large purplish-white bottlebrush flowers which project 2 feet above the foliage and perfume the air with their sweet fragrance. Black Snakeroot's flower spires add architectural height to shaded borders, shade gardens, woodland gardens, cottage gardens or naturalized areas. Ferny dark foliage provides excellent texture and color to the landscape throughout the growing season. Best in groups, although single plants have good specimen value once established. Easily grown in average, medium moisture soils in part shade to full shade. Prefers humusy, organically rich, moisture retentive soils. Foliage tends to scorch and otherwise depreciate if soils are allowed to dry out. A slow-to-establish plant.

Gladiolus - Hardy

The Hardy Gladiolus, Gladiolus, with a delightful rich pink flower, blooms in the early summer. These wonderful pink blooms make fantastic cut flowers. Their sword-like foliage and tall, impressive flower spikes make striking accents in the mixed flower border. Shorter than typical gladiolus, most hardy glads top out at just 30" making them strong contenders for prime spots in mixed perennial gardens. For best garden effect, plant in groups of six or more of a single color, or grow dozens of them in a bed reserved for cutting. To enjoy blooms for many weeks through July and August, plant corms at two-week intervals from early spring until the end of June. Glads are easy to grow, requiring only full sun and good drainage. Simply plant, water as needed and rely on them to fend for themselves.
