Woadwaxen Bangle, Genista Lydia 'Bangle™', is a new more floriferous and longer blooming selection of Genista that produces waves of electric yellow flowers in early spring. After the spring bloom, this nearly leafless plant has bright green stems that provide interesting year round texture and color. Genista Bangle™ is easy to grow and makes a lovely low hedge of 2 feet tall by 2 feet wide. Improved branching and texture make this a wonderful plant for containers and for mass plantings. It tolerates unseasonable heat and just about any well-drained soil, provided it is drenched in sunlight. When mature it forms a lush, rounded bush that keeps its olive-green foliage abundantly until frost.

The Golden Template Woadwaxen, Genista tinctoria, is an excellent xeriscape ground cover plant with small, dark green leaves. Its small yellow pea-like flowers last for over a month. It is a small Eurasian shrub and parts of the plant, but especially the flowering tops, yield a good yellow dye. It is a wonderful plant for containers or mass planting. This colorful plant is both low-water and low-maintenance. The bright green smooth stems, or branches, are erect, rather stiff, smooth, or only lightly hairy and free from spines. The leaves are spear-shaped. It is an excellent edging plant for full sun and prefers dry, well-drained sites.
