Chinese Cabbage - Savoy Express F-1
Savoy Express F-1 Chinese Cabbage
Savoy Express F-1 Chinese Cabbage is a huge advancement in savoy cabbages! Most are very late season, but Express matures at the same time as Golden Acre. Small-framed; can be planted 12" apart and yields nice 1 - 2 lb. heads. It has great texture and sweet flavor. Savoy's are avoided by the cabbage worm and looper. They are cool season crops and bolt or go to seed in long days of late spring and summer. They grow best as a fall or early winter crop in most areas. Chinese cabbage is used fresh in salads or cooked like regular cabbage. When planting, choose an open, unshaded site with fertile, well-drained and moisture retentive soil.

Seneca F-1 Zucchini Summer Squash are cylindrical fruits, medium green that have grey flecks, and they slightly expand at the blossom end. They have an open habit for easy picking, and you'll pick plenty with this endlessly reliable variety! There is none better in trials for earliness, uniformity and outstanding production. Plant seeds in late spring or early summer. Place seed 1/2" to 1" deep, 2-3 seeds per hill, spaced 2 to 3' apart. After the seedlings emerge, thin to one healthy plant. Pick zucchini regularly to insure a steady supply, and you get the best flavor when fruits are small.

Peppers - Hot Peppers - Serrano
Serrano Hot Peppers
Serrano Hot Peppers are very hot in flavor and can be eaten green or red. This pepper is perfect for salsa, picante or chili sauce. Plants get 30" tall and are very prolific; pepper grows 2" inches long. They do not need to be steamed or peeled before using because of their thin walls. They turn green in color at first, and then ripen to red, brown, orange, or yellow. Serrano hot peppers don't dry well, since they are too meaty. The Serrano is said to be about 5 times hotter than the jalapeño. Seeds should be started indoors 8 to10 weeks before the last frost. When the temperature reaches 70° F., transplant 12 to 16 inches apart, fertilize, and again when they are 12 inches tall.

Spacemaster 80 Cucumbers are slicer sized, bitter-free fruits on determinate plants. They are dwarf plants with 18" - 24" vines that make this an excellent choice for small spaces or container gardens; vines need only 1/3 the space of standard cucumbers. It produces a good yield if picked frequently. Spacemaster 80 are slender 7" - 9" fruits; adapts to a wide range of conditions. Resistant to CSV, DM, PM, SCAB. Spanish Roja Garlic is a gourmet garlic famous for flavor! It has light purple streaks on 7 to 13 easy-to-peel cloves. Spanish Roja is suited to colder climates and may not yield well where winters are too mild. This garlic is very popular with market gardeners and restaurants. Brought to the Northwest before 1900, it is often called "Greek Blue" by Northwest gardeners. Garlic survives bitterly cold winters underground and then grows rapidly when the weather warms in spring; bulbs in summer. Garlic needs fertile soil with lots of organic matter. The soil needs to remain uncompacted through the long growing season. Harvesting them at the right time is very important. Dug too soon, the skins wont have formed around each clove. Crops are harvested in mid-July and sometimes are hung in sheds to dry before reaching their prime in late-July/early-August.

If outside condition are not good, sow seed in modular tray, then just plant out the plug plants when large enough. Choose an open, unshaded site with fertile, well-drained and moisture retentive soil. Also, be sure to plant another seed crop at midsummer for fall harvest. Cabbage harvested in the fall is especially sweet.

Sungold F-1 Orange Cherry tomato produces 1" fruits that are very sweet, with what has been variously described, as a citrusy, tropical, or a wine-like flavor. It has just enough tartness that you know you are eating a tomato! The tomatoes remain firmer when ripe than most other cherry tomatoes. Sungold FR-1 is absolutely delicious any way you describe it! Being a good producer with exceptional sweetness, this tomato is a must. Plants need good amounts of heat and at least 6 hours of sunlight to produce properly. It needs well prepared, moisture retentive soil, allowing 1½-2' between plants, and regular watering in dry periods. The vines typically grow 4 to 5 foot, so could be a great plant for large containers. Can be harvested from early summer right through until late autumn. Indeterminate.

Suyo Long Asian Cucumber is from northern China. Sweet in flavor, its dark green fruits can grow to 18" and have white spines. Suyo Long is almost seedless, and it is bitter-free and burpless. This cucumber is crisp, tender and should be trellised for straight fruits. It is heat tolerant, resists PM., is widely adapted and very dependable in hot, humid climates. What an excellent cucumber for salads and bread and butter pickles! Pick them when they reach around eight or nine inches long. Keeping them picked while young will encourage the plants to keep producing. Suyo Long can be either grown on a cage or trellis. After harvesting, use the cucumber within in a week; keep refrigerated.
