Squash - Winter - Table King Acorn
Table King Acorn Winter Squash

Table King Acorn Winter Squash has green-black fruits with thick, pale-orange flesh on a compact bush plant. This squash is smaller than Ebony or Table Queen but earlier maturing with darker skin. Table King's productivity and quality compares well to more expensive hybrids. An excellent bush variety, it is one of the popular acorn squash that provides a heavy yield in a limited space. It is ideal for baking, pies and storage. Plant 6 to 8 seeds per hill spaced 3 to 4 feet apart. Space rows 3 feet apart. Thin or transplant 3 plants per hill and leave 18 to 24 inches between plants in rows. AAS 1974.

Spinach - New Zealand

The Spinach New Zealand, 'Tetragonia expanse', is an Heirloom spinach that tastes like spinach but loves hot weather. The New Zealand provides continuous greens from May to October! Discovered by Sir Joseph Banks off the coast of New Zealand during the 1770 voyage of Captain James Cook and enjoyed by 18th century gardeners. New Zealand spinach provides the great spinach taste all summer long because it loves the heat. Just like other spinach, small, young leaves can be eaten raw or steamed. In the deep south some protection from the summer sun is recommended.Plant in the spring around the last average frost date. New Zealand spinach prefers a sandy, well drained soil with lots of organic matter. To harvest, simply cut 3 to 4 inch leaves from the branches as you need them. Do this on a continual basis to encourage new growth of tender young leaves

Texas Supersweet Short Day Onion

Texas Supersweet Short Day Onions produces handsome yellow, globe-shaped jumbos and colossals that get as big as softballs! The most uniformly sweet variety we've ever eaten and always tender. There is never a hot one; nor a tough, thin-layered one. This yellow, early-maturing onion is recommended for southern and Midwest gardeners. Texas Supersweet stores better than any other Short Day variety, often keeping right through the heat of the summer until mid-September. This is the most widely adaptable short day onion since it will grow from Mexico to Ohio. The bigger it gets, the sweeter it is, but it can store for at least two months if cured properly.

Corn - Bi-Color Corn - Trinity F-1 SE/SU
Trinity F-1 SE/SU Bi-Color Corn

The Trinity F-1 SE/SU Corn has a great flavor and texture with a refined 7 ½" to 8" ear. This corn has a very good cold soil emergence and cold tolerance for a homozygous sugary enhanced variety. A truly northern adapted corn, Trinity handles adverse conditions well and we feel it is the best all-around bi-color sweet corn. Good husk protection; very sweet and tender. We highly recommend this variety. High ear placement makes this variety suitable for mechanical harvest. Also great for home gardens, roadside stands, and the fresh market. Corn needs a consistent source of water and requires rich soil. Work your bed area about six inches deep, making sure to break up clods of dirt. If you live in a cold-weather area, wait 10 days to 2 weeks after the last frost before planting. You should also take into consideration what type of corn you are planting.

Spinach - Tyee F-1
Tyee F-1 Spinach

Tyee F-1 Spinach is a highly recommended slow bolting variety. It produces dark green savoyed leaves that stand upright and stay cleaner. Tyee F-1 is uniform and good tasting; a perfect summer variety for the market farmer and home gardener. It can also be planted in the fall for first spring salads. The medium green, savoyed leaves grow quickly and are extremely vigorous. Since the stems are upright, they keep the tender leaves off the ground and this makes for easy harvest. Spinach will germinate in soils as cold as 35 degrees. It is best planted in early spring or in the fall before the ground freezes. Pick early and maintain soil moisture to prevent early bolting. Sow 1/4 inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows 12-18 inches apart. Thin plants to 3 inches with 4 inch spacing.
