Potentilla - Yellow Gem
Yellow Gem Potentilla

Potentilla - Yellow Gem, 'Potentilla fruticosa 'Yellow Gem', displays young twigs that are red, making a nice contrast with its gray-green, lobed leaves. It produces attractive bright yellow buttercup flowers with five ruffled petals. Blooming from May to hard frost, Yellow Gem is a low growing Potentilla that has a spreading habit, making it a good groundcover. Potentillas are great for mass or group plantings, foundation plantings, borders or raised beds. Prune in early spring in order to get a dense, bushy plant with lots of flowers. It prefers full sun or partial shade and well drained soil.

Juniper - Youngstown
Youngstown Juniper

The Juniper, Youngstown, Juniperus horizontalis 'Youngstown', is an evergreen and a flat top spreader with bright silvery gray foliage that turns purple in winter. It makes a nice choice to use for a spreading groundcover since it is a very low growing juniper, rarely getting more than 12 inches from the ground. Its prostrate growth habit, with tightly knit branches, creates a full centered look. It works well in rock gardens as a groundcover. Plant in full sun to part shade in well drained soil.
